Be Gentle

No matter what happens, be gentle with yourself.  ~ Jeanne de Chantal

Now that really is great advice, isn't it?
I read the quote a few days ago in Common Prayer, A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals, and knew it was perfect for today's post.

So often when we mess things up for what seems like the thousandth time, we are anything but gentle with ourselves.  And honestly, what does the worrying, grumbling, and chastising yourself for the latest mess do but make you, and probably everyone else around you, feel worse?

Let's take this quote to heart and instead be gentle with ourselves ... His grace is sufficient for whatever the latest disaster might be!

  1. Well said! If we focus inordinately on our mistakes, it leaves no room to experience now or to celebrate the victories.

  2. You are so right, sometimes the reason that we are so stressed is that we do not take time to be gentle to ourselves. Thank you so much for sharing your insight. I think we are gentle to others but sometimes forget that our source of gentleness comes from inside. God is so forgiving of us, we need to learn for the master.

  4. Catherine, what a beautiful sentiment.

I always think if we could be as kind and gentle to ourselves as we are to our loved ones, our lives would be much sweeter.

Thanks for a thoughtful and thought-provoking link to Alphabe-Thursday's letter "G".

    A+
