Brother Lawrence wrote, “Men invent means and methods of coming at God’s love, they learn rules and set up devices to remind them of that love, and it seems like a world of trouble to bring oneself into the consciousness of God’s presence. Yet it might be so simple. Is it not quicker and easier just to do our common business wholly for the love of him?” ~ from today's post at Common Prayer
Oh that I would keep this ever before me ... to do my common business, whatever the task at hand may be, wholly for the love of God; not out of duty or obligation, not because of expectations of my own or those of others, but for simply no other reason than to offer everything I do and am to Him as a gift of love. Would that not transform our daily walk in a huge way, to offer up each thing we do, whether big or small, as a gift of love to the God who is Love?
I am going to make it my daily ambition to do this, would you join me? No pressure, no condemnation when we fail for thankfully His mercies are new every morning, no rules or hoops to jump through, just a purposing in our own hearts to do everything for love of Him and for His glory.
And the photo is in a way totally unrelated to this post ... except that I am planning to spend the bulk of this cold winter's afternoon planning the spring garden ... with a new purpose in mind now!
Hey, Do you know where homesteadblogger went????
ReplyDeleteI didn't get any kind of notice that my blog would disappear and it's gone.
I will be so VERY sad if it's gone forever.
I imagine the tech. team is doing some sort of site maintenance since HomeschoolBlogger is down as well. Try back tomorrow and hopefully things will be up and running. I've not heard anything about the site closing, and surely they would post a notice if that was the case.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Catherine
Hi Catherine...yes, I join you in making it my daily ambition that "whatsoever I do, I do heartily, as unto the Lord."
ReplyDeleteIt's been a lovely visit here today.
God bless you, have a sweet day,
