At what point can a citizen of our great country have any privacy? Are we by any chance tending toward an era when the government will regulate our whole lives? I wonder if I were to say, "I do not wish to be in the census, thank you. Try my neighbors down the road"- would I make the FBI files? I am too docile to ever know. ~ Gladys Taber
I suggest you read it in its entirety if you can get a copy of this book, very entertaining reading. The part about the census was amusing, yet somewhat disturbing as I ponder actually opening my census envelope, let alone filling it out ...
Yes, I did get a rather curt notice that a response is required by law, so I should send it in right away... a whole 2 days after I got the census envelope. OK ...
And maybe I will ... or maybe I'll see what happens if I don't. Docile isn't an adjective that describes me very well, I'm afraid.
And please don't rush me, it only makes me move that much slower. That's just the way it is. I am a classic example of James Dobson's The Strong-Willed Child, a book which was highly offensive to me when I first read it (being one, you know); but rather helpful when I had one (now 3) of my own!
OK, enough rambling for now, I'm off to read a book, drink a cup of coffee, and ponder the question, "Will I or won't I?". Maybe I'll just give the thing to my husband ... :)
Exactly! I was watching a show about that yesterday.
ReplyDeleteAnd we weren't mailed a census...they sent someone..another waste of money.
Count the people..that's all!
